Web Gateway Appliance

In eighty years a personal computer was commonly used as a sophisticated typewriter or a powerful worksheet. Rarely a computer was connected to a network or even to another computer and Internet was reserved just for few advanced users.

Today hundreds of millions of people worldwide connect regularly to Internet and Web applications hosted all over the world. The Web popularity has transformed a personal computer into a terminal machine connecting people.

For most of us Web applications are vital and Internet changed our life forever. Never before did humanity have such a powerful tool to share knowledge, information and emotion. Unfortunately and in despite of that so wonderful description, connecting to the Internet also means exposing yourself to serious threats.

In such a world wild web the main question is how to deliver Secure and Optimized Web traffics? Controlling Web accesses, securing Web applications, managing Web flows, filtering Web content, supporting overloads, managing the Quality of Service or providing High Availability are all issues that concern the nature of Web traffics that cannot be treated smoothly in the Web application itself nor at the network level.

Several approaches aim to offer solutions to manage Web traffics. Among all solutions, there are two that have attracted our attention. The first approach consists of integrating many Commercial Appliances to reach the goals. The second approach is based on the integration of Open Source technologies and sometimes, homemade solutions. While the first solution trusts on the know-how of reputed appliance manufacturers, the second solution trusts on the know-how of the Open Source community and the IT staff.

The lack of both considerations is that more often several technologies are to be integrated to provide both security and optimization. These approaches leverage the complexity of the final solution and as a result the maintenance costs.

The ideal solution would be an integrated off-the-shelf solution requiring no additional development and based on Open Source technologies to be flexible enough and trustworthy. CacheGuard provides such a solution with a new approach based on an Open Source Operating System Appliance (OSOSA). The product is proposed as software, hardware and virtual appliance.

CacheGuard differs from any other solution by being an integrated solution joining together numerous free Open Source technologies and proprietary Open Source developments to secure and optimize Web traffics at the same time. The OS Appliance approach allows to auto magically transform an x86-based machine into a powerful and highly integrated appliance that manages all main Web traffic issues in a unique box.

Install CacheGuard OS on your hardware box in less than 5 minutes and gain in transparency, flexibility and productivity. Download your free trial version at www.cacheguard.com.

Hillary Mendadak ke Baghdad

Selasa, 28 April 2009

Sabtu, 25 April 2009 | 15:16 WIB

- Wah, Indonesia Pengutang Terbesar ADB

Kamis, 23 April 2009

Kamis, 23 April 2009 | 09:56 WIB

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Rupanya Indonesia adalah debitor (peminjam) terbesar Asian Development Bank (ADB). Total jatah pinjaman Indonesia 9,4 miliar dollar AS.

AS hingga 15 miliar dollar AS. (Hans Henricus/Kontan)

Why Does Your Business Need A Spam Filter?

Kamis, 16 April 2009

By: David Tanguay

Spam plagues email inboxes around the globe. The cost of spam for businesses and individuals can be steep. From unwanted solicitations to identity theft, spam is a serious issue. Endless hours are spent on spam damage control. A spam filter helps to eliminate these annoying and potentially dangerous communications.

Recently Ferris Research revealed the worldwide cost of spam totaled $100 billion in 2007. A spam filter makes life easier by clearing up files. Spam protection also helps ward off possible viruses that may be lurking within suspicious emails.

Almost 100 billion spam emails are sent out everyday. A large number of these emails are sent from botnets or zombie networks. Spam communications include sales of products and services, pornographic content and viruses that can seriously damage your computer system.

More than a quarter of all corporate email received is spam. It takes an average of five seconds to delete a spam email. Hours are wasted deleting spam correspondence when employees could be spending their time performing more productive tasks. A spam filter saves your business time and money by filtering out the majority of these undesirable emails.

Your email address is often posted on your business website. While this makes it easy for customers to contact you, it also leaves your business open to receiving spam. Consider using an alternate email address on your business website so your everyday email box is not overflowing with spam. Have a spam filter in place to filter out the most offensive correspondence.

Make sure you never open spam emails. When you open spam emails, you are likely to receive more or even be the target of a vicious virus. Warn employees to delete spam emails without opening them. Use a spam filter to minimize the problem of processing spam.

Viruses can compromise private corporate data and even cause identity theft. Protecting your business and your customers is of key importance. To have a successful online business, customers need to feel secure about your operations. Getting rid of spam helps your business maintain a higher level of security.

Your business is more productive when less spam is filling its inboxes. For a minimal monthly cost, a spam filter will help to get rid of offensive correspondence. Email should save time and not waste it. Get a spam filter to regain valuable business time and eliminate the threat of unwanted emails.

How to ride the social media wave

Minggu, 29 Maret 2009

By: Guy Allon

We have entered the era of the web 2.0 and for those who never really got it, never understood it and decided to ignore it STOP right there!

And stop thinking that way! Embrace this moment because now is the chance for you to emerge in the social media scene. If you miss this opportunity then you'll be kicking yourself for not starting it sooner. This is your opportunity to get in while it's still in its infancy, at ground level.

Social media is the hottest area of web development at the moment. It has the highest valuation and is worth a lot of money.

I have recently listened in to a webinar spoken by Perry Belcher, a cracker of a guy (in British terms it means outstanding ;-)) who runs one of many websites called winning at social media. In it, he talks about how social media transcends everything that media stands for today, including the internet and how major advertisement companies are clawing at ways to make social media work for them since they see it as a giant tidal wave waiting to be unleashed but are still unsure of how to use it.

Perry Blecher went on to say that social media is becoming such a powerful force that as an individual it gives you a greater advantage over a lot of companies out there who are looking to spend a lot of money on it. According to statistics only 16 about you and 20% about what you do. Your house (blog) should convey to your friends the type of person that you are by the pictures that you hang on your walls, the sports gear you store in your closet, the DVD collection you have on your shelves and the type of food you store in your fridge (yummy). In other words share with your audience your interests and passions in life. Humanize yourself and allow your visitors to get to know the real you first and foremost.

Once you establish a rapport with your visitors and they get to know you a whole lot better wait for them to ask you what it is that you do. Then and only then you can begin promoting whatever it is you are looking to promote in the first place. Patience is the key to networking wisely.

So now that you are ready to get socially networking it's time to find out about the next step to riding the social media waves...

To do that please click on the link below to visit my blog and find out more :-)

Having recently set up his own blog, Guy Allon, a film producer by trade, is on a mission to convert those out there who are new to the web 2.0 concept to get their own blogs up and running and onto the path of success. Visit his blog at http://guysword.com
